Ingredients:
1 cup flour
1 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 stick cold butter, cut in chunks
6 to 8 apples (Oma liked Granny Smith)
Optional: 1 teaspoon nutmeg
Instructions:
- Peel and core apples. Cut into small chunks.
- Mix dry ingredients and then mix in the butter with a fork or your fingers. Oma preferred using her fingers! Mix well, but not so much as to make it oily.
- Spread crumbs over the apples and bake one hour. When done, poke a little with a knife to release steam.
- Serve warm with Gifford’s Vanilla Ice Cream!
