At Marshall Communications, we may work virtually, but we believe there’s still something special about getting together IRL, or “in real life!”
Our team connects regularly on Zoom and other online platforms, which gives us the flexibility and efficiency of working remotely. But two or three times a year, we make it a priority to step away from our screens and spend time together. These outings give us a chance to strengthen our relationships, try something new, laugh together, and simply enjoy one another’s company.
Over the years, our adventures have included hiking through the Maine woods and up mountains, taking cooking classes and learning to make sushi, creating terrariums and candles, cruising Casco Bay, visiting Peak’s Island, and, of course, enjoying plenty of wonderful lunches together. We love experiences that give us an opportunity to learn, create, explore, and have fun.
One of the things that makes our team special is how many interests we share outside of work. We love cooking and eating good food, reading and sharing book recommendations, gardening, being outdoors, and creating things with our hands. When we get together, the conversation often turns to what someone is cooking, growing, reading, making, or planning next.
Our company outings aren’t just about taking a break from work. They’re about building the genuine personal relationships that make us a stronger team. We believe the more we know, like, trust, and care about the people we work with, the better we work together.
Technology allows us to work from almost anywhere. But every once in a while, nothing beats being together IRL!
