This week, I joined the team on their annual staff outing. For this year’s outing, we went to Wolfe’s Neck in Freeport for a nature walk along the beautiful coast of Maine. Emma found a rock in the shape of the state, and I held a frog! For lunch, we ate at the delicious Tuscan Bistro, located in the heart of Freeport (if you have room for dessert be sure to order their tiramisu!). It was great to finally meet Whitney, Charlene and Juli in person and get to know everyone outside of work on this fun outing. I can’t wait for the next one!

Last week, I learned what goes into a “response to request for proposal” (a requested work proposal by a client) and formatted and summarized some of Marshall Communications’ past work to be included in the most recent proposal. I completed another Visit Maine webpage for when the site is updated, wrote a press release for one of our new clients, as well as prepared the monthly social and podcast reports for Marshall Communications. I uploaded Episode 197: Create a Network Map To Build Your Personal Brand for The PRMaven® Podcast. In addition, I also helped Emma by starting to work on formatting the graphics for a client’s digital sign that is present outside of their location.

One lesson I learned last week is the value of meeting people in-person. While working from home is convenient and highly productive, seeing your colleagues in-person occasionally is a great bonding experience (especially for me who initially met everyone over video call). I am happy to be interning at Marshall Communications because I get to have the best of both worlds: I have the convenience of working from home, while also having the opportunity for sociable in-person encounters.

Stay tuned next week to read more about what it is like to be an intern at Marshall Communications, and what I am learning!
